One of the most important numbers for your website will be your value per visitor, and even if you have a very high value per visitor, you still may make any profits. If your current VPV is 30 cents, and you are paying Google 30 cents per click for your advertising, then you aren’t making anything. But on the same token, let’s pretend you took the time to implement a few viral marketing tactics for your website, and let’s pretend that you starting to get 300 free website visitors per day. That would mean a $90 profit each day for your business. That’s $2,700 per month and $32,850 per year in profits. There are 3 sure-fire ways to get this viral traffic to your website and I want to share them with you.
One of the most popular ways for getting free viral traffic to your websites is by creating a viral eBook; the only problem is that many people do it all wrong. Many people will write a book report and call it an eBook. What I mean by this is that many people will write a 30 page guide, put everything is 18 point font, give people resale and master distribution rights, and call it good. Now, some people write really great 30 page eBooks with killer content, but in the majority of cases, if you really want your viral eBook to be shared with everyone, then a 30 page “book report” isn’t going to work!
So, here’s the real secret to creating a great viral eBook: You are going to want to make the content so great that you would find people across the web selling similar content for $30, $50, $100 or more. You want people to read your book and then think to themselves that the information was so great that they would have been willing to pay for the information. When people think this to themselves, then they will want to include your eBook as a free bonus on their site, give it away, or resell your eBook for a profit. You will mention your websites and maybe include a few affiliate links in your eBook so that you get free traffic and maybe make some extra income for your efforts.
A second very popular way for you to create free viral marketing for your website is to provide great resources on your site. It is very popular to see sites giving away free eCourses or newsletters. I have done this a number of times and it works very well. You can also give away your viral eBooks, free recorded calls, coupons, free reports, etc. Basically, you want to provide tons of resources with high perceived value that you can deliver electronically, making the only cost to you your time. Providing people with these great free offers usually automatically assures that you will get word of mouth advertising. Remember that content is king, and that especially goes for viral marketing.
A third sure-fire technique to brining free viral traffic to your websites is by creating viral videos. I admit that this is not an easy task to accomplish, but if you put in some effort, then it can all be worth it. Here are a few tips: First, make sure that after you have creating your “amazing video” that you include within that video a compelling offer for people to visit your website and learn more. Second, ask people to share your video with friends and ask them to comment and rank your video. If you convince people that your video is worth sharing, and then ask them to share it, then they likely will. Third, upload your viral video to multiple video sharing sites for maximum exposure. You see, your video make go viral on a site like Mega Video before it goes viral on YouTube, so you’ll want to upload and promote your video on as many sites as possible for maximum effectiveness.
I would like to point out that there is a common theme amongst all three of these viral marketing techniques, and that is the theme of creating great content and then giving it to people for free. When viral marketing has worked the best, it has always been because of people providing very informative or entertaining information for free. The more value you can provide to people for free, the more word of mouth marketing you will receive. Then you will be rewarded with tons of free website traffic while others may struggle to break even with a similar business.

In the b.i. days (before the internet), the success of a mom and pop store depended, among other things, on the big boys of industry. Once they came to town and set up shop, there was no more mom and pop. They were driven out of business by the sheer volume of the mega companies’ advertising and capital. Not a pretty site.
The internet has gone a long way to reviving the mom and pop industry. It affords many small businesses the opportunity to compete by using simple cost effective techniques repeated on a continuous basis. One of the techniques is viral marketing commonly referred to as word of mouth.
In the old days viral marketing for small business owners had limited appeal. Yes they could be successful in that particular city, town or even region but it’s still nothing compared to the global word of mouth that business owners can tap into right now thanks to the internet. Once you launch your viral marketing campaign, it requires very little follow up on your part and even this has been taken a step further with the emergence of Web 2.0.
Here are some new ways to get the best out of your viral marketing:
1. The Small Report.
There have been some excellent ebooks on the internet chock full of good information but let’s face it: many people are not going to read them due to the length. Enter the small report. Putting together a five to ten page report can be done in no time. The same goes for reading it. We suffer from information overload in this day and age so giving people useful information in smaller quantities makes sense.
Find a hot topic and write several articles on it. Place the articles in a pdf file with your name and contact information branded on the report. Tell readers they are free to distribute your report as long as they do not alter it in any way. Then advertise your report in forums on your website and anywhere else you can think of. People want information fast and utilizing small reports is a good way to give them exactly that. It’s also a good start to making money from your viral campaign.
2. Video
In 2005, Kevin McCarthy one of the pioneers of online marketing predicted that within a year there would be an explosion of online video. Prediction accomplished. The internet is at the dawning of the video revolution. It is becoming easier and easier to make a video and upload it to places like You Tube or Google Video. In fact Google bought You Tube late last year for 1.65 billion dollars. That’s a good indicator of how things are going.
Like the small report, try to keep your video brief and to the point. While people would rather watch than read, you still don’t want to overload them. The point of a using a viral video (like reports) for your business is to give visitors useful information but just enough. In the end you want them to get more information by going to your website
3. Folksonomies
Wikipedia defines folksonomy as “a user-generated taxonomy used to categorize and retrieve web content such as Web pages, photographs and Web links”. In plain english what they are referring to is tagging; a way to not only retrieve information you want but more importantly to share that information with others. Tagging is nothing more than keywords specifically related to bookmarking social sites like Digg, Technorati or Delicious.
As an example let’s say you join Technorati. You then make a video, tag it with the keyword phrase “funny online video” and upload it to your account. Now all individuals within the Technorati community will be able to access your video when they type in that particular keyword. This is very powerful. Tag viral and bookmarking social can put you in front of a large audience immediately.
No matter how new the strategies keep in mind if you want your viral marketing to truly take off then make sure its free. Charging money for your report or video will guarantee you a limited appeal. Free is a powerful psychological trigger for many of us so use it. Also make sure you are providing quality. No one is going to be in a hurry to pass around below average information.
The internet has in many ways leveled the playing field. Just stay alert to any new innovations and be ready to incorporate them into your internet web site marketing strategy. A smart viral marketing campaign can make any small business successful.

Usually the best viral marketing ideas are also the simplest.
Hotmail got where it got to today by offering a free email account and including a brief message at the end of each email that got sent saying “Get your free email account here”. Very simple viral marketing. Very effective as well.
Anything that people actually want to give away works well for viral marketing. Of course, it has to offer value to the person who gets the free item. Generally speaking, nNo-one wants to pass on something that shouts out “I’m an advert”.
Of course, there are exceptions even to this rule. They’re usually exploited by large companies with impressive budgets – Burger King’s subservient chicken advert springs to mind here.
So how do you, the little guy, come up with a great viral marketing idea?
If you’re a video wiz then you could submit a video to YouTube. At least one guy has managed to get his record released this way. Plenty of people have used viral video marketing to promote their sites. Ideally, you need something memorable or funny.
If you’re not up to creating a video, don’t despair. That’s not the only great viral marketing idea you can use.
Audio tracks can also go viral. One site I know of created a set of 6 hypnosis CDs. These were sold with master resell rights. The start and end of their CD mentions their website. You can trip over these CDs all the time on eBay and other sites. Which is very nice viral work on their part – getting other people to distribute their name and website.
Articles like this one can go viral. If you produce a top quality article, other sites will use it and the links at the end of your article will point to your site or product.
Ebooks and reports are also a great way to use viral marketing. They fall into the “added value” area and are quick and easy to produce.

Viral marketing strategies are marketing techniques which once implemented take on a life of their own, they continually expand their reach across cyberspace drawing more customers and their cash into your net. They can spread like wildfire from place to place, luring, enticing and pre-selling prospective customers before they even reach your site.
Viral marketing strategies are so powerful that whole ebooks and courses have been written on how to implement and use such techniques to squeeze the most out of them. As once set up correctly you may never need to pay for advertising again…
So what types of techniques work?
Well as I said there have been book written on the subject, so here’s a quick run down of a few techniques which I’ve used to help create steady streams of traffic to my websites.
Writing and submitting articles such as this is a great technique for getting more links back to your site and for drawing in more visitors, as people publish them in ezines, on their blogs and websites and you’ll find them popping up all over the place. If you go to Google and type in “How to profit from your home business blog” you’ll find about 9,290 listings of that article which I wrote a while back…it’s also the most popular download at contentdesk.com with over 4200 downloads last time I checked. So if you’re not regularly writing and submitting articles, why not?
Power tip: Make your article viral, by adding at the end something like this to encourage distribution:
“(Feel free to use this article online and in your email newsletters as long as you leave it intact and do not alter it in anyway. The by-line and biography must remain in the article.)”
Putting together and distributing viral ebooks is another strategy I’ve used with good results. The key is to make them ‘brandible’ so that consumers can brand the ebook with their own affiliate links, this gives them an incentive to pass them on and on.
A few places you can give these away are, to your customers, website visitors or in article/forum signatures. Have a look at the link below for an awesome free viral ebook which is like nothing you’ll have ever seen:

These are two strategies you can implement straight away. Other viral marketing techniques you could use are:
-Creating and distribution podcasts on your niche; turn your articles in to podcasts and you’ll add a new stream of visitors to your site, don’t forget to submit them to podcast directories.
-Create viral videos and submit them to google video, ifilm and other video related websites. Done properly, these are a very effective strategy.
-Add refer-a-friend scripts to your site, these are freely available just do an internet search, I’ve used “Spread The Word” which is a good free script. If you give away an incentive for referring friends (e.g. viral ebook) you can really enhance the effect of this strategy.
There are many more viral marketing techniques that you could use, focus on one at a time and keep working until you get the results you want. Decide now to take action and take your business to the next level.
(Feel free to use this article online and in your email newsletters as long as you leave it intact and do not alter it in anyway. The by-line and resource box must remain in the article.)

This article will give you eight hot ideas for your new viral marketing campaign. Viral marketing, or word of mouth marketing, is the most inexpensive form yet potentially the most powerful form of marketing you can use.
Rebrand a Viral eBook
You can buy ebooks which include rebrand rights that allow you to pass on the book for free with your name as the author. This is a great way to get autoresponder sign ups and a nice way for people to spread your book around the internet. It is a simple process that can be done over and over again.
Set up a Forum
A popular forum will get great search engine rankings and will attract many people in your niche to ask questions, comment and review products. Forums are a powerful viral marketing medium.
Use Facebook
Facebook has grown into a mega social network with over 70 million users. If you can tap into just a tiny percentage of these users then you have hit a
goldmine. Methods of marketing on Facebook include creating free applications, games and creating Groups with information about your website.
Create Templates
Creating free website and blog templates with your website link in the footer is an easy way to virally market your site. Most people will leave the footer intact, instantly giving you backlinks and ecognition.
Create a Video
Posting a video to YouTube can bring in millions of viewers and visitors. You can post some subtle marketing messages, some tutorials or any other
content you believe your readers would be interested in. Make sure you include a link to your site in the video.
Write an eBook
Writing your own ebook (or paying someone to write it) is an instant way to gain credibility. You can give it away for free, thus creating a completely
viral stream as more and more people pass the book on to friends. You can include some one time offers of upsells in the free ebook.
Write some Articles
You can write articles and give them to webmasters within your niche to publish on their sites. As long as you have a link back to your site, you’ll always receive credit for the articles.
Use Social Bookmarking Sites
Sites like Stumbleupon, Digg, Technorati, Twitter, Myspace and others give you the chance to create a brand, give away free ebooks and generally provide people with a way to talk about your site. This is powerful word of mouth marketing.
These eight viral marketing ideas can help your website take off in no time.
